- The collection consists of cartographic records acquired as discrete items by the City of Richmond Archives from sources other than Richmond municipal government agencies. The collection is maintained to accomodate acquisitions that are not part of an identifiable fonds or collection, but which are worthy of retention
- History / Biographical:
- The Richmond Archives was established in 1983 as a section of the Richmond Museum. In 1987 the Archives became a section of the City Clerk's Office and began using the name Richmond Municipal Archives. In 1990 the Corporation of the Township of Richmond became the City of Richmond. Since that time the Archives has been known as the City of Richmond Archives
